University is back! (Again)

I am back to university! I finished my English summer courses on Friday and today we started the new semester, I have courses on everyday of the week except on Thursday but the schedule is really nice (for USJ) ! On Tuesday and Wednesday I only have one hour but I have courses from 8AM till 8:15PM on Monday and Friday.

Today was nice. We had fun, and we started taking some courses I’ve been waiting for (JAVA). Tomorrow I have a Database course. Some people are saying it is easy and others that it is hard, I don’t really care! I should learn it quickly because I am sick of making programs with no simple way to save them.

Koukh L Sabaya

Koukh El Sabaya is a restaurant located in Zaarour Lebanon, what’s unique in the restaurant is that every table is carved in wood, you can’t find two similar tables or chairs in the restaurant. The food in the restaurant is good (Click on the Menu thumbnails to see what they have) but you don’t really have a lot of stuff to choose from.

The restaurant is operated by a mom and her two daughters, the mom cooks and the daughters serve the food so when the restaurant is full the service is a little slow. Another problem is that they don’t have a generator in case there is no electricity, so you end up getting uncooled drinks if the electricity was cut before you came.

Overall the restaurant is nice, it’s a small restaurant in the mountain so you can’t expect it to be superb but it has everything you need to have a good time.

25 Years!

25 years ago at 4:10 PM the dream of every Lebanese was shattered, President Bachir Gemayel was killed in an Explosion in Beit L Kataeb in Achrafieh. Since that date nothing changed in Lebanon! the situation keeps getting worst and people are leaving the country!

No politician was able to follow the path of Bachir instead all what they are doing is destroying everything he worked for.

Rampurple published a nice collection of Bachir speeches and songs you should check.

Jacques Martin passed away

Jacques Martin the presenter of L’Ecole des Fans, A French TV show were children aged 3 to 10 would sing in front of a featured star every episode passed away today!

I used to watch the show when I was a kid and it was nice and funny. Here’s a video of the best moments of l’Ecole des Fans.

Nassib Lahoud running for the presidency

Nassib Lahoud announced that he is running for the presidency today, when I got home he had almost finished his speech and started to take questions from the press, Al Manar began followed by OTV then NTV and Sawt El Ghad (pro-opposition media) the audience booed those medias and then clapped when pro-government medias started to ask questions!

Apparently he is taking the campaign seriously and launched a website for it, but it still contains no information. I am waiting for news websites to publish his program so I can evaluate it.

Blind Flight – Trailer

Blind Fight is a movie about the lives of two hostages, Irishman Brian Keenan and Englishman John McCarthy, that were captured by the Islamic Jihad Organization (A.K.A Hezbollah) for 5 years. The movie was released in 2003 but I am not sure if it was shown in Lebanese cinemas so I am going to try and get it on DVD to watch it.

Check out this video from the INA websites about Christians killing each others! How can people still follow these two after all what they did to us!!

Here’s the original description of this video in French flowed by my English translation:

Les combats opposent l’armée du général Aoun et les forces libanaises de Samir Geagea dans le quartier chrétien de Beyrouth-Est. Reportage tourné par une équipe de Médecins du Monde montrant comment la population civile survit au milieu des terribles combats.

Fights opose the army of General Aoun and the Lebanese Forces of Samir Geagea in the east part of Beirut. The video was filmed by a team of “Médecins du Monde” showing how the civilians are surviving in the middle of the horrible fights.

The last sentence of the video is very true! “La solution, Le jugement de Salomon, que celui des deux qui aime le plus son pays l’abandone a l’autre pour qu’au moins dechirer extenuer le Liban survive.” (In English: The solution: Salomon’s Judgement. The one who loves more his country should leave it for the other side, that way Lebanon will survive even if it is ripped apart and destroyed) This sentence also applies for the current “crisis” we are living.
