25 years ago at 4:10 PM the dream of every Lebanese was shattered, President Bachir Gemayel was killed in an Explosion in Beit L Kataeb in Achrafieh. Since that date nothing changed in Lebanon! the situation keeps getting worst and people are leaving the country!

No politician was able to follow the path of Bachir instead all what they are doing is destroying everything he worked for.
Rampurple published a nice collection of Bachir speeches and songs you should check.
RIP Bachir
Nassib Lahoud announced that he is running for the presidency today, when I got home he had almost finished his speech and started to take questions from the press, Al Manar began followed by OTV then NTV and Sawt El Ghad (pro-opposition media) the audience booed those medias and then clapped when pro-government medias started to ask questions!
Apparently he is taking the campaign seriously and launched a website for it, but it still contains no information. I am waiting for news websites to publish his program so I can evaluate it.
Blind Fight is a movie about the lives of two hostages, Irishman Brian Keenan and Englishman John McCarthy, that were captured by the Islamic Jihad Organization (A.K.A Hezbollah) for 5 years. The movie was released in 2003 but I am not sure if it was shown in Lebanese cinemas so I am going to try and get it on DVD to watch it.
Check out this video from the INA websites about Christians killing each others! How can people still follow these two after all what they did to us!!
Here’s the original description of this video in French flowed by my English translation:
Les combats opposent l’armée du général Aoun et les forces libanaises de Samir Geagea dans le quartier chrétien de Beyrouth-Est. Reportage tourné par une équipe de Médecins du Monde montrant comment la population civile survit au milieu des terribles combats.
Fights opose the army of General Aoun and the Lebanese Forces of Samir Geagea in the east part of Beirut. The video was filmed by a team of “Médecins du Monde” showing how the civilians are surviving in the middle of the horrible fights.
The last sentence of the video is very true! “La solution, Le jugement de Salomon, que celui des deux qui aime le plus son pays l’abandone a l’autre pour qu’au moins dechirer extenuer le Liban survive.” (In English: The solution: Salomon’s Judgement. The one who loves more his country should leave it for the other side, that way Lebanon will survive even if it is ripped apart and destroyed) This sentence also applies for the current “crisis” we are living.
This Wednesday Kalem L Ness is going to have a special episode on President Bachir Gemayel. They are going to talk to some of his friends about his life and achievements.

LBCI is finally getting better at commemorating Bachir, I remember a couple of years ago when LBCI’s coverage was so bad that Solange reminded them who founded LBCI during Bachir’s memorial! This year some improvement were made but imo they can do a lot more then this, for example OTV showed clips of Bach all the day on the 23rd of August while LBCI just reported that they raised his poster on Sascine Square in Achrafieh.
The regiments of the army that participated in the Nahr L Bared Battle are now returning to their bases, people are gathered at some places and a lot of people are driving in their cars holding Lebanese army flags, Lebanese flags and sadly some political party flags (One car was just holding a tayyar flag!).
The only TV station that is reporting the return of the army is OTV, other channels are just showing cartoons! OTV also has a very nice slogan on the screen: “September 1st 1920: The Great Lebanon (Loubnan L Kabir), September 2nd 2007: The Greater Lebanon (Loubnan L Akbar).
Here are some pictures from the Antelias-Jal El Dib area I took a couple of minutes ago (as you can see kids are on the streets so TV channels can stop the cartoons and be Lebanese for a while).

The official Lebanese Army website offers a lot of nice useful feature, you can check the headlines of all the Lebanese newspapers, read a summary of the editorials of all the newspapers, check the Lebanese Army news, read a summary of news from the Middle East, the enemy (Israel) and the world, you can also read the introduction of the news on some radio stations.
Another page contains the precise hour of the start of the day and of the end of the day for september. (Useful for Ramadan I guess)
You can also get a couple of nice Lebanese Army wallpapers for your desktop.
All of those services are offered for free in addition to news and information about the Lebanese Army and a list of the martyrs who died during the battle of Nahr El Bared.
