University is back! (Again)

I am back to university! I finished my English summer courses on Friday and today we started the new semester, I have courses on everyday of the week except on Thursday but the schedule is really nice (for USJ) ! On Tuesday and Wednesday I only have one hour but I have courses from 8AM till 8:15PM on Monday and Friday.

Today was nice. We had fun, and we started taking some courses I’ve been waiting for  (JAVA). Tomorrow I have a Database course. Some people are saying it is easy and others that it is hard, I don’t really care! I should learn it quickly because I am sick of making programs with no simple way to save them.

My Vista Sidebar Gadgets

One of the nice features in Vista is the ability to put gadgets on the desktop, the system comes loaded with a couple of gadgets and you can download others later from Microsoft’s web site.

Here’s the list of gadgets I am using:

  • Presto’s Clock, A simple clock with the date.
  • 2 Slide Show *, One with pictures of Bachir Gemayel and the other with Lebanese Army pictures.
  • Feed Headlines *, From Slashdot and Naharnet.
  • WeatherBug, Current weather and weather forecast for any city you want.
  • Multi Meter, Shows the usage of your processors and the RAM.
  • Notes *, Digital Post-its.

*:Preloaded with Vista.

The Electricity!

Today whoever is in charge of distributing the electricity is being very generous!! I got home at 1:30 PM, we had no electricity, at 2PM it was back but they didn’t give it for too much time at 3:15PM they stopped it, at 6PM they finally gave it back only to re-cut it 30 minutes later!!

When will they fix the electricity problem in this country!!

Note that usually it’s 6 or 4 hours on/6 or 4 hours off!

Iraqi Blogs

The BBC has a nice article with a list of Iraqi Bloggers, reading the blogs on that list is really interesting, bloggers talk about how they are living in Iraq and you understand the problems they are facing a lot better.

In the list there is a blog for a guy called Nabil, he is an Iraqi who now moved to Jordan. Before moving the street he was living in was invaded by Al Qaeda!! Reading his description of life in Iraq makes you wonder how some people are still living there! In one of his posts he talks about a “funny” story that happened to him, he almost got hit by a bullet while he was playing his guitar, the “funny” thing is that the bullet entered his room the second he said: “Now I’ve been happy lately,”!! (he was recording himself so you can actually here it happen!!)

I hope Iraqis get to live in peace soon, a couple of outsiders are fighting a war in Iraq and they are the victims of it!

Ubuntu Package

My copy of Ubuntu

I recently ordered a free copy of Ubuntu and received it, it comes in paper envelope with some Ubuntu stickers.

I installed it on a virtual PC and I work on it sometimes. I also got myself a copy of Mac OS 10.4, it can be installed on a virtual PC (and on a PC) but it takes some time to tweak some stuff and I keep postponing it.

University is back!

Tomorrow I restart university! I have some English courses I have to take and they are making us take them now, so starting tomorrow I will have to wake up at 7am to go to university from 8am till 1pm every day (excluding Sundays) for 3 weeks!! I will finish on the 14 September and I’ll resume normal university on the 17.

Cicadas

I agree with Aoun

Cicadas (Jar Flies or Zyez in Arabic) are annoying!!! Aoun used to complain about them last year and now it’s my turn!!! I hate them! they don’t stop making that horrible sound! and to make things worst they come and sit on my windows and start making it!

Cicadas

I sometimes wake up at night and they would be “singing” they only stop at 5 in the morning, the birds sing for a while and then around 6 am one of the cicadas restarts and they all follow it!! How the hell do you turn those things off!

Sony Ericsson W960

Sony Ericsson W960

I currently own a Sony Ericsson K750i, the phone is great, when I bought it it contained everything I needed. The K750 is now 2 years old and I want to change it, my minimum requirements are:

  • Wi-Fi
  • 3.2 MP Camera
  • 2GB of memory
  • Other features are now standards (Bluetooth, MP3…)

I found everything I needed in the SE W960 that is coming out later this year, it has Wi-Fi, a 3.2 MP Camera, 8GB of Memory, a touch screen and many more great features, the package also comes with a bluetooth headset and a normal one.

Here’s the full phone specifications from the GMS Arena.

Multitasking

As you already know, yesterday I didn’t have internet for most of the day, so I had to do all my work at night in the same time!

I was working on a Big Update for Exoleb so I had more than 50 pictures to crop, resize, fix (brightness, level, contrast) and add Exoleb logo to, while doing all this I was also writing the posts and adding the photo gallery code to them, talking to a couple of people on MSN Messenger and working on a small “photo managing” application that I thought of while editing all the pictures, to make things more complicated I decided to change the way post are written in Exoleb to see people’s reaction, but writing posts this way takes a lot of times so even if people like it, I don’t think I am going to do more than 1 post like this every update.

I finished everything at 1:30 this morning and went directly to bed, I usually stay up later than this but I’d be talking to people on MSN instead of doing all this! So that’s the first time I am tired of working on a PC!
