Gmail gets IMAP

IMAP is now a Gmail feature, it’s not yet available in all the accounts but should be in the next 2 days (I already have it :P). IMAP is better then POP since the changes you make to your mails will be applied on all platform so a message you already read and answered will show as read and answered wherever you access Gmail from.

I usually keep Gmail open in a tab in FireFox since I didn’t like the way it worked before on Outlook with POP, so I am going to retry it using it with Outlook and see if it’s better then the Web Version.

The IT Crowd

I got sick last week so I spend half of it at home watching TV series and films. I watched episodes 2, 3 and 4 of Prison Break Season 3, Knocked Up, My Name is Earl season 1 & 2, The Darwin Awards, That 70’s Show Pilot (on YouTube) and Finally the IT Crowd during the weekend.

The IT crowd is a small TV series, each season is composed of 6 episodes and they only made 2 seasons so far. I downloaded and watched the first season and it was really nice. This is the first British comedy I like and enjoy watching. The characters are great, the story is nice and funny and the only thing I regretted was that the seasons are very small.

Season 2 is a little different than season 1, The characters are the same, Moss and Roy the 2 Geeks that make the company alive by keeping all the systems working while not getting any credit for it and working in the basement, and Jen the “relationships manager” of the department who is only in IT because her CV said “good with computers”. The Difference between the seasons is the look of the set, In season 1, the basement was a messy place while in season 2 it is organized and clean. Another weird thing is the last episode of season 1 the story didn’t end and was supposed to be continued but they just started season 2 with a new story.

The IT crowd is a great show and everyone should watch it, it is simple funny and small. I read some places that they are planing on making a US version of the show so I am currently waiting for it and for season 3 of the British one.

Ipod Touch prices in Lebanon

The New Ipod Touch

I sent a mail to the Apple dealers in Lebanon on Friday asking them if the Ipod Touch is currently available in Lebanon and how much does it cost so they replied to me today saying it will be available in Lebanon this week so here are the prices from Interlink SAL:

8GB: 395$+TVA
16GB: 525$+TVA

The Touch in Lebanon is a little expensive compared to the prices in the US (300$ and 400$) so I guess buying it online and shipping it to Lebanon will be cheaper. But the warranty will not work in Lebanon if you get it from the US so I guess each person should decide if they should take the risk and ship it or pay more and buy it from Lebanon.

A 17 year old girl is sentenced to death by hanging

The crazy regime in Iran is about to commit a new crime! They are sentenced a 17 years old girl to death by hanging for defending herself against three men that wanted to rape her! The 3 rapists attacked her in a park so she stabbed one of the attackers who latter died in hospital and this act of self defense is getting her a death sentence!

What’s more crazy about this is that if she did not resist rape she would have been killed by her relatives to preserve the “family honor” or she would have been stoned as adulterer.

I don’t really know what the world can do to stop this but you can’t find some ways to help in the original article.

Formula One Brazilian Grand Prix

McLaren Mercedes F1

The Brazilian GP today will be the last and most exciting race of the season three drivers have a chance of getting the title, Hamilton with 107 points, Alonso with 103 and Raikonen with 100 points and they all want it.

Massa is in the Pole position today followed by Hamilton, Raikonen and then Alonso so all three drivers are close to each others on departures and I am sure they will all try to get ahead when the race starts. The Formula 1 Official website has an article explaining why every driver might win or loose and you can check this previous post to see the different combinations that will allow each driver to go home with the title.

The Race starts at 19:00 Beirut Time and you can watch it on Al Jazeera sports, I hope Hamilton wins, who do you support?

Kouchner Invites Himself to a Lebanese Marriage

Bernard Kouchner, The French foreign minister apparently invited himself to an after marriage dinner and danced the Dabkeh with the people in the restaurant for 20 minutes! He was sitting in another part of the restaurant when he decided to join the party so he just entered and joined the fun. Here’s the picture of Kouchner dancing published in As Safir today.
